IMBA OFFICERS FOR 2008
Chairperson:
Karen Smith
Duties:
The Chairperson shall preside at all meeting of the Association members,
BOD, Executive Committee, Registry Committee and may represent the
Association at special meetings. The Chairperson shall appoint
committees as provided by these Bylaws and be an ex-officio member of
all committees. The Chairperson shall see that provisions of the
Constitution, Bylaws and Rules are enforced and that resolutions adopted
by the Association are executed, and shall have general supervising
control of the affairs of the Association, and shall report on progress
at BOD meetings and Annual Meeting of Members. The Chairperson may
assign duties to other members of the Association.
Vice-Chair:
Denise Schneider
Duties:
The Vice-chairperson shall perform the duties of the Chairperson in
his/her absence or disability. The Vice-chairperson will also assist in
the planning of program activities and other duties as may be directed
by the Chairperson.
Secretary:
Jane Licht
Duties:
The Secretary shall take minutes of all Executive Committee meetings,
BOD meetings, including BOD meetings where votes are cast
electronically, and at the Annual Meeting of Members, and promptly
provide copies of drafts and approved minutes to the Registrar. The
Secretary shall maintain or cause to maintain a historical record of all
official Association activities as determined by the BOD, provide
correspondence as requested by the Chairperson and perform duties
incidental to the office. The Secretary shall coordinate these duties
with the Registrar such that copies of all official Association
documents are preserved by the Registrar. In the absence of both the
Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson, the Secretary may conduct BOD
meetings and/or the Annual Meeting, or may assign this duty to another
member of the BOD.
Treasurer:
Wendy Konichek
Duties:
The Treasurer shall, in cooperation with the Executive Director, keep or
cause to keep a record of all financial accountings of the Association
and present a report of the expenses, revenue, investments and savings
as requested at BOD meetings and Annual Meeting of Members. The
Treasurer shall supervise the Executive Director duty to receive and
disburse, upon receipt of proper vouchers, all funds coming to or
belonging to the Association; he/she shall assure that all deposits of
Association funds are placed in the name of the Association in a bank to
be selected by the Finance Committee. He/she shall keep or cause to
keep an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements.
Executive Director:

Duties:
The Executive Director may assist the Executive & Finance Committee in
conducting the daily business of the Association, including information
services, budgeting, finances and accounting. Under the Treasurer’s
supervision, he/she shall receive and disburse, upon receipt of proper
vouchers, all funds coming to or belonging to the Association; he/she
shall assure that all deposits of Association funds are placed in the
name of the Association in a bank to be selected by the Finance
Committee. He/she shall keep an accurate account of all receipts and
disbursements.
Registrar:

Duties:
The Registrar shall faithfully keep accurate records of the Association
Registry known as the International Morab Registry™ (IMR), shall provide
information and assistance regarding registration, and shall process
registration applications, prepare registration papers and provide
certified copies to deserving applicants in a timely manner. The
Registrar shall receive and preserve futurity records, Region horse show
results and records, and other IMBA-sanctioned event records.
Webmaster:
Wendy Konichek
Duties:
The Webmaster shall preserve, maintain and update the IMBA website with
timely, accurate information presented in an organized and attractive
manner. The Webmaster shall present new ideas and initiatives for the
website to the Chairperson who may elect to present the initiatives and
any drafts to the BOD or other members for review. The Webmaster shall
assure that the IMBA website is well-maintained, properly administered,
and that the domain name is the property of IMBA, and that the website
and the domain name are preserved unless and until replaced or
discontinued by the BOD. The BOD shall assist the Webmaster in these
endeavors.

Nominating Committee

Purpose:
To review and nominate qualified candidates for the IMBA Board of
Directors, to encourage promising candidates from different geographic
regions to run for the IMBA Board of Directors, to formally nominate
candidates, and to solicit, prepare and publish candidates’ biographies
in the Morab Perspective and provide them to the Executive Director who
shall mail them with ballots to all voting members. The deadline for
candidate bios to be received by the Nominating Committee Chair is June
30.
Futurity Committee
Chair: Linda Konichek
Member: Wendy Konichek
Purpose:
To develop, promote, advertise and produce an annual Futurity
competition program. The committee shall recommend its program to the
BOD for approval. The committee shall develop qualifications, forms,
advertising and records; set and collect fees; establish classes;
determine and issue awards, and file with the Executive
Director/Registrar a written summary report within a month following the
date of each year’s Futurity. The Committee shall endeavor to establish
Futurity programs in all geographic IMBA Regions that may be established
by the BOD.
Youth Program Committee
Chair: Wendy Konichek
Members: Diane Lemberger, Carol Horne
Purpose:
To encourage youth participation in the International Morab Breeders'
Youth Association including the LAAP, provide awards to winners of its
contests and programs, and provide this information to the Executive
Director and in stories in the Morab Perspective. The Committee shall
act as the liaison between IMBYA and the BOD.
Bylaws & Rules Committees

Purpose:
To review the Bylaws of the Association and make recommendations to the
Board of Directors in order to improve consistency and clarity and to
better promote the Morab breed and the Association. Any recommendations
for change will be published in the Spring or at least by the Summer MP
so that the membership may comment on those proposed changes.

Awards Committee

Purpose:
To administer the Lifetime Achievement Award Program, keeping timely
records of each horse enrolled and their activities, compiling point
totals annually, and presenting awards for the Bronze, Silver, Gold,
Hearst and Miller levels of achievement; to promote the LAAP and present
information on the program and on award winners in the Morab
Perspective, to administer the additional programs of: Partners 'n'
Performance, Morab Horse of the Year, Breeder of the Year, and maintain
the points for the Youth horse programs, and to implement and make
further improvements to the various awards programs that may adopted by
the IMBA Board of Directors.
Regions Committee
Chair: Karen Petersen
Purpose:
To encourage the establishment of active Regions across the USA, Canada,
and elsewhere. To solicit Region Leaders and to assist them in
promoting the Morab breed in their respective regions through
participation in horse fairs, shows, and other events and gatherings.
To provide and/or solicit region reports to be submitted to the Morab
Perspective.
Marketing Committees

Purpose:
To encourage the work of and enhance communication among all the
marketing committees: Print Media, Calendar, Merchandise (in stock &
new), Stallion & Sales Catalogue, Historical Morab Horse, National
Promotions, Morab Mail Liaison, and Banner Committees; to collect
monthly reports and report back to the committees as requested by the
Board of Directors.
2008 Calendar Committee

Members: Julie Schroeder, Diana Burbridge, Kym Cooper
Purpose:
To design and publish a calendar containing quality photographs of IMR
horses; to obtain sponsorships or other type of funding for the project.
Print Media Committee
Chair: Michelle Feder
Members: Karen Smith, Kimberly Winters
Purpose:
To send IMBA promotional materials to magazines, and other publications
with the intent that this will lead to breed articles, advertising, and
other information being printed about Morabs.
Merchandise

Purpose:
To advertise existing IMBA merchandise in the Morab Perspective
and on the website. To distribute merchandise from the IMBA. To investigate new promotional merchandise for IMBA and present to the
Board of Directors for final approval.
Historical Morab Horse

Purpose:
To gather information and present it for the education and promotion of
those horses who were instrumental in forming the breed, including, but,
not limited to, those who were in prior registries, and the horses who
have impacted the Morab breed of present.
National Promotions

Purpose:
To get advertising and feature articles in national magazines to help
IMBA/IMR gain recognition for IMBA and promote the Morab breed. (For
example, we currently have ads in Horse Illustrated, the IAHA,
and the Morgan magazines, and our feature article in Western
Horseman is coming out in April.)
Morab Perspective
Advertising & Soliciting

Purpose:
To encourage the submission of advertisements for the Morab
Perspective and to contact members as appropriate to remind them of
the various opportunities available.
Farm News
Chair: Jane Licht
Purpose:
To edit Farm News stories and to scan printed photographs that accompany
the stories such that the MP Editor can accept them; to solicit Farm
News stories if needed. This Committee will meet deadlines and get the
information to the MP Editor in a timely manner so as not to slow the
progress and publication of the MP.
Endurance News
Chair: Anita Messenger
Purpose:
To prepare and submit articles and photographs to the Morab
Perspective regarding distance riding and driving, including
endurance and competitive events where Morabs are participating.
